The type of goals or new year’s resolutions you set is important too. We all have the loftiest of intentions as we welcome the new year, but how realistic are they? Small, steady steps tend to get you further than attempting giant leaps does. As such, you need to not only set a goal that is important to you; it needs to be achievable. Goals or new year’s resolutions should be specific and realistic – and simple is best.

Choose healthy food options. Manage your portion sizes. Make sure treats are just that – and not everyday foods. Drink plenty of fresh water. Get fresh air and light every day.

Exercise is not just critical for your physical health – it’s also essential for your mental and emotional wellbeing. Getting your body moving is a great stress-buster, helps you maintain a healthy weight, and is the simplest thing you can do to stave off anxiety and depression. Make a plan to regularly get moving and commit to it. Do something you enjoy – join a gym, play a team sport, swim, hike, jog, dance, do yoga, or simply go for a short walk most days. 

  1. Make Time for YOU

Whether you thrive on spending quality time with family and friends (in person or virtually) or prefer quiet time on your own – or ideally, a mix of these – make taking regular time for yourself a priority. Do what you love and what makes you feel happy – from reading a book to swimming in the ocean to taking a relaxing bath to walking in nature or your neighbourhood – make time for what feeds your mind, body, and soul.
