About Neck Liposculpture
In both men and women the neck and under the chin can be successfully sculptured to give a more youthful appearance. Of all the areas of the body which can be treated with liposculpture, the neck can be the most rejuvenating. Many people will comment that you look younger and thinner without even realising why. The underlying skin firmly attaches to the structures beneath, and just as with other areas of the body, looseness of the skin is very unusual. Acquiring fat in this area is often genetically inherited, and can be evident from an early age. No amount of diet and exercise will reduce fat here. Ageing is also another risk factor, so this procedure can suit people of all age groups.
Results are evident immediately after the procedure. Some mild bruising, if any at all, may occur. Swelling tends to go away quite quickly because the body doesn’t have to fight gravity and drainage into lymphatics happens readily. As part of the remodelling of the chin area post-operatively, the tissue can feel firm and lumpy for some time afterwards. It’s important to massage the area in the first few months. It can take up to 6 months to get final results. It’s not a face lift, but very often patients don’t need skin tightening. They only need fat removal to change their profile and improve their appearance. Skin thereafter naturally shrinks to drape nicely over the new sculpted area, once the skin has been “de-weighted” by the removal of fat underneath. It can take away years and make someone look thinner and more defined. A very satisfying procedure.
In less than 1% of patients, there could be temporary damage to one of the smiling muscles nerves (marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve). This is only temporary, should it occur, and the nerve will regain its function within 6-8 weeks in most situations.

Neck Liposculpture FAQs
Anyone who has fatty tissue in the neck/ chin area. The procedure works well for people with a “double chin”, for many people with a heavy jowl area and lower face and for people who lack definition of the lower jaw.
Some people may have loose neck muscles ( platysma ) or sometimes there is not a sharp angle between the angle of the jaw and the neck. These people will benefit from neck liposculpture, but it may also need to be combined with Botox injections or possibly a face lift (in some patients).
The cost of this procedure varies according to the areas that require treatment and whether the area is treated alone or in conjunction with other areas, such as jowl and facial liposculpture (this is most common).
